Synopsis
If you're ever felt your heart pulled in two different directions, you'll understand how Wei Kit feels. Wei Kit is the star swimmer in his school, plus he's smart and handsome to boot. There are many girls who like him but he's got his heart set on Deborah, one of the smartest and prettiest girls in school. She doesn't know he exists and Wei Kit, not daring to approach her, settles for drawing sketches of her in his notebook.
Wei Kit finds himself spending a lot of time with E-Leng, his classmate and neighbor. She has a crush on him and does her best to win his affection. Eventually, Wei Kit realizes he cherishes E-Leng's friendship and hints that he wants to be more than just friends. E-Leng is happy to hear it. But a spanner is thrown into the works when Wei Kit is asked to help out with the school newsletter. He discovers that Deborah is the editor and she takes a shine to him when he impresses her with his work. Now he has to choose between the two girls. He wants to be with Deborah, but he can't betray E-Leng. What is he to do?
Reader Reviews
It's a well-written novel, specially for teenagers like me. The characters in this story is so real that i can even imagine the real person. In this story, it shows that Wei Kit is interseted in Deborah, but E-leng is interseted in him, so he has to choose btw them, it's not an easy task... but he finally made his decision... i've read it over and over again for 3 times... it's really enjoyable! - Pek Han Wei
I finished reading NACS (see, I'm into this acronym now). I couldn't put it down, it's really a good book. It was written so honestly. All the characters were so real that I couldn't get myself to root for either one of the girls nor dislike Kit for being a jerk sometimes because you'll understand that each is just acting like a real good person would. And the glossary in the end of the book, I really find so cute. Hats off to Amos! - Angie Flaminiano
At first I thought the book had a funny title but I understand what it means now. I know how E-Leng feels when the guy you like likes someone else instead. I could really see into Kit's mind as he struggled to make sense of the confusing messages his heart was giving him. I think he made the right choice in the end. Amos really knows what's going on in a teenage boy's head. - Chong Li Yun
